The Poznań International Fair has long been the symbol and a good mark of Poznań. This is confirmed by the latest survey conducted by Pactor Call Centre among inhabitants of Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław and Białystok. The survey was commissioned by Głos Wielkopolski, a local daily.

The inhabitants of the largest Polish cities answered the following questions: “what do you associate with Poznań?” It turns out that the capital of Wielkopolska is strongly associated with the Poznań Fair and it was one of the most frequently given associations.

The Fair ranked first and second in the Głos survey. As many as 41% of inhabitants of Warsaw claim that PIF is the symbol of Poznań. The majority of them list the fair as the first association, even before the Poznań goats. Respondents from Białystok gave similar responses.

Significantly fewer inhabitants of the capital city associated Poznań with Lech football club, the Old Town Square or the Town Hall.

According to the inhabitants of Kraków, Poznań is mainly the city of goats. The Poznań International Fair ranked second, but the answer was given by as many as 25% of these respondents. The Pactor study shows that the inhabitants of Kraków pay more attention to the history of Poznań, rather than to its scientific or cultural assets. The evaluation of Poznań by the inhabitants of Wrocław is similar to that voiced by the respondents from Kraków.

The results tell us much both about the promotion of the city and the mentality of the respondents , concludes Dr. Krzysztof Podemski, a sociologist.

It is worth remembering that the fair became part of the Poznań image tens of years ago. It was established in 1921, which means that it is one of the fairs with the longest traditions in Europe and one of the most renowned trade show organisers.
